DIY: Floral Sunglasses

I love sunglasses, almost as much as I love nail polish.  Over the years I've amassed a fairly sizable collection of sunglasses, although not as vast as my polish collection, but I digress.

While reading a magazine the other day I came across an ad for Ciate's Flower Manicure and fell in love with the sunnies the model was wearing in the ad.  Then I had a thought!  I have a ton of sunnies and I've grown a little bored of a couple of them, why not breathe new life into one instead of attempting to hunt down the pair I saw.

Inspiration:

What you need:

  • Sunglasses ( of course)
  • Flowers, any type of your choosing (I used polyester flowers I found at Michael's)
  • Glue (I used E6000, but it can be done with a glue gun
  • Toothpicks
  • Popsicle stick or plastic sheet

Let's begin:

Squeeze a bit of the glue (if you are using E6000) on to a small plastic sheet or a popsicle stick (something disposable).  I suggest using small amount at a time as the glue dries fairly quickly.  Apply a bit of glue to the bottom of your flower.

Press the flower to the frame and hold in place until the glue sets, about a minute or so.

Unfold the sunglasses and continue adding flowers around the frame.

Allow the glue to dry for a couple hours.

Now they are ready to wear.

Impulse Review - Make Up Edition: GOSH Lip Lacquer

I'm a sucker for good marketing and cute packaging. So thanks to that I tend to pick up items on impulse a lot. I sometimes end up with some really great items and some I wish I had never purchased.

The subject of today's impulse review is GOSH Lip Lacquer, a manicure for your lips (they had me at manicure).

The  Paraben-free formula is enriched with Aragan oil and Vitamin E.

Crispy Lips
When I walked into the store this display caught my eye. Mostly because I thought it was nail polish. I am a sucker for nail polish, but I digress. The packaging was cute and clever so I picked up one.

When I got it home and opened it up my first impression was how yummy it smelled (like bubble gum).

Crispy Lips

Thanks to the doe foot applicator it is very easy to apply and control, it glides like a dream.  The colour is amazing. So rich and pigmented, which surprised me since that is not my usual experience with lip gloss. A major plus is that is it not sticky at all and my lips felt so good.

Crispy Lips
Since it's a lip gloss, it is so not durable and requires that you reapply more than once during the day, but the size allows you to take it with you anywhere even in your smallest purse.

So in the end, this turned out to be a really good impulse buy!  Yes I would buy again and I'm planning to get more colours soon!

Something I Made - Pink and Yellow Tulle Skirt

The best thing about tulle skirts is that they are so easy to make and require no sewing, but they are so cute!  I love tulle skirts they make everyone look and feel like a princess.

Jean Michel Basquiat Inspired Nail Art

Another artist whose work I adore is Jean Michel Basquiat.  I don't know what it is but his work and his life has always intrigued me.  Which brings me to my first Throw Back post.  About a year ago I did nail art inspired by his painting titled Red Kings.

Red Kings, 1981 By Jean Michel Basquiat

I took these photos before I cleaned up my mani, but I was really happy with the out come.
