Impulse Review - Make Up Edition: COLORSENSATIONAL VIVIDS by Maybelline

I must admit, I love bright, bold colours and it helps that bright lips are one of the hot trends for this Spring.  Therefore there are a lot of options currently out in stores.   I've been in search of a nice bright bold orange lipstick for a while and now there are a lot of options with the release of this year’s Spring collections.

Today’s impulse review subject:  Colorsensational Vivids by Maybelline

On my last trip to the drugstore, I asked the store’s cosmetic representative for her help in finding a nice bright and bold orange lipstick and she walked me over to the Colorsensational Vivids display.  At first look I was excited, finally the bold, bright, rich colour I've been searching for!  So of course I decided to take one home.

According to Maybelline:

Maybelline Colorsensational Vivids gets treated to a new technology using neon coated pigments produce Color Sensational's brightest most vibrant color ever. The end look is intense and bold, but never garish. Color is rich, luscious and bright -- and wears for up to four hours! Formula with honey nectar keeps lips feeling smooth, nourished, never dry, chalky or cakey.

Why You'll Love It

  • Be bright and gorgeous
  • Exclusive Vivid colors are brighter
  • Honey nectar formula nourishes lips

The packaging is so eye catching and bright, it stood out among the other lipsticks.  Plus I’m a sucker for shiny.
I love how this lip stick applies!  It glides on like silk and feels very moisturizing on my lips.  It has a light texture that feels very comfortable to wear.

Electric Orange

Although I love how this lipstick feels, lipsticks are really all about the colour.  The colour was not very pigmented.  Even after applying several layers it did not become opaque and resembled more of a lip stain than anything else.  Although I like lip stains and I do like how it looks as a stain, I really wanted a nice opaque orange.  The search continues.

So in the end, the question is, would I buy it again?  Yes, I would, but only if I am looking for a lip stain and not a lipstick

DIY: Floral Sunglasses

I love sunglasses, almost as much as I love nail polish.  Over the years I've amassed a fairly sizable collection of sunglasses, although not as vast as my polish collection, but I digress.

While reading a magazine the other day I came across an ad for Ciate's Flower Manicure and fell in love with the sunnies the model was wearing in the ad.  Then I had a thought!  I have a ton of sunnies and I've grown a little bored of a couple of them, why not breathe new life into one instead of attempting to hunt down the pair I saw.

Inspiration:

What you need:

  • Sunglasses ( of course)
  • Flowers, any type of your choosing (I used polyester flowers I found at Michael's)
  • Glue (I used E6000, but it can be done with a glue gun
  • Toothpicks
  • Popsicle stick or plastic sheet

Let's begin:

Squeeze a bit of the glue (if you are using E6000) on to a small plastic sheet or a popsicle stick (something disposable).  I suggest using small amount at a time as the glue dries fairly quickly.  Apply a bit of glue to the bottom of your flower.

Press the flower to the frame and hold in place until the glue sets, about a minute or so.

Unfold the sunglasses and continue adding flowers around the frame.

Allow the glue to dry for a couple hours.

Now they are ready to wear.

Impulse Review - Make Up Edition: GOSH Lip Lacquer

I'm a sucker for good marketing and cute packaging. So thanks to that I tend to pick up items on impulse a lot. I sometimes end up with some really great items and some I wish I had never purchased.

The subject of today's impulse review is GOSH Lip Lacquer, a manicure for your lips (they had me at manicure).

The  Paraben-free formula is enriched with Aragan oil and Vitamin E.

Crispy Lips
When I walked into the store this display caught my eye. Mostly because I thought it was nail polish. I am a sucker for nail polish, but I digress. The packaging was cute and clever so I picked up one.

When I got it home and opened it up my first impression was how yummy it smelled (like bubble gum).

Crispy Lips

Thanks to the doe foot applicator it is very easy to apply and control, it glides like a dream.  The colour is amazing. So rich and pigmented, which surprised me since that is not my usual experience with lip gloss. A major plus is that is it not sticky at all and my lips felt so good.

Crispy Lips
Since it's a lip gloss, it is so not durable and requires that you reapply more than once during the day, but the size allows you to take it with you anywhere even in your smallest purse.

So in the end, this turned out to be a really good impulse buy!  Yes I would buy again and I'm planning to get more colours soon!

Something I Made - Pink and Yellow Tulle Skirt

The best thing about tulle skirts is that they are so easy to make and require no sewing, but they are so cute!  I love tulle skirts they make everyone look and feel like a princess.

Jean Michel Basquiat Inspired Nail Art

Another artist whose work I adore is Jean Michel Basquiat.  I don't know what it is but his work and his life has always intrigued me.  Which brings me to my first Throw Back post.  About a year ago I did nail art inspired by his painting titled Red Kings.

Red Kings, 1981 By Jean Michel Basquiat

I took these photos before I cleaned up my mani, but I was really happy with the out come.

Silver Studs

It's Ladies Night!!!  So I'm going out dancing tonight with some friends and decided that since I'm planning to go all black everything, I'm going to give my nails a bit of edge.

Sorry about the not so great cell phone picture, I do have plans to upgrade to an actual camera soon.
For this design I used the following polishes:
  • Base coat:  Seche Clear
  • Black:  China Glaze - Liquid Leather
  • Top Coat:  Seche Vite

Destino: The Salvador Dalí – Disney Collaboration

Today I learned that Salvador Dalí and Disney collaborated on an animated short and it's beautiful!

I have always been a fan of Salvador Dalí's and his creations.  He creates some of the most beautiful images I've ever seen. To see his work come to life, for me the beauty is beyond words.

All My Pretties!!

I present to you my entire nail polish collection!!

I love nail polish!  Some may think I have a problem, but they bring me joy!

There was a time when the only colour you would find in my closet was black.  Then I discovered nail polish!  Nail polish has really opened my eyes to colour and I've developed a whole new appreciation for colour and how you can use it to express anything and everything.

How did my love of nail come to be?  Well truth be told my husband introduced me to a neat little subreddit called RedditLaqueristas.  Oh the colours, glitter and beauty I saw.  The next thing I know it was hours later and I saw still checking the pictures of some amazing work and thought I so had to try it.

I think I'm running low on space!

Hi!

I love reading blogs, and I've been wanting to start one for a while now, but I've been more than a little self conscious about it.  There are so many great blogs out there already, do I even have anything worth while to add?  Well I got over it and decided to not give it a shot anyway.  And here we are.

What is the over all theme of this blog you may ask.  Let's just say, like the name suggests, it will be a very eclectic space.  I have a lot of loves.  Everything from nail polish, make up, clothing, cartoons, music to comics and pretty much anything else that catches my interest.

So let's get started, shall we....
